Director of Finance
Role Summary
The Director – Finance will lead the strategic and operational aspects of SVYM’s finance function, ensuring financial sustainability, transparency, and compliance with regulatory and stakeholders requirements. The role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring a balance between high-level financial planning and ground-level execution. Reports directly to the CEO.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement long-term financial strategies aligned with SVYM’s mission and vision.
Advise the leadership team on financial planning, risk management, investment opportunities, and funding strategies.
Lead the preparation and presentation of financial reports to the board and stakeholders.
Financial Management:
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, costing and financial reporting for all programs and projects.
Ensure optimal utilization and allocation of resources.
Establish and maintain robust internal controls and financial systems.
Compliance & Governance:
Ensure compliance with statutory regulations (Income Tax Act, FCRA, CSR guidelines, SEBI Regulations, Labour Laws etc.).
Liaise with auditors, donors, and regulatory authorities.
Manage financial audits and stakeholder reporting processes.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor the finance and accounts team.
Build financial capacity across the organization through training and provide support to project teams in budgeting and reporting.
Fund Management:
Monitor and manage cash flows, fund utilization, and donor fund accounting.
Ensure accurate donor reporting, fund reconciliation, and compliance with grant agreements.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Chartered Accountant (CA) or Cost and Management Accountant (CMA).
Minimum 10–15 years of experience in financial leadership roles, preferably in the development/nonprofit sector.
Experience with FCRA, SEBI guidelines, CSR compliance, and donor-funded projects.
Familiarity with ERP systems, and advanced Excel.
