Established in 2022 as a vertical of Viveka School of Excellence, VSOE Sainik School is an approved New Sainik School under the aegis of the Sainik School Society, Ministry of Defence, Government of India. It is the first NGO-run Sainik School in Karnataka.

From VSOE to a Sainik School — a new pathway begins
Viveka School of Excellence has served rural families in Saragur and H.D. Kote since 2002. In August 2022, VSOE received approval to establish a New Sainik School vertical under the Sainik School Society, Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
The vertical builds on VSOE's academic foundations while adding a distinct residential pathway centred on discipline, physical fitness, leadership, teamwork, national awareness and exposure to the Armed Forces.

A Sainik School naturally creates awareness and opportunity for students who aspire to join the Armed Forces. But its larger educational purpose extends beyond a military career.
The habits cultivated through cadet life — discipline, physical fitness, courage, teamwork, communication, resilience, responsibility and leadership — are valuable in every profession and in citizenship itself. VSOE Sainik School therefore seeks to nurture future leaders for society, while giving cadets who aspire to the Armed Forces an environment in which that aspiration can grow.

Professional coaching in athletics, handball and basketball has enabled cadets to compete at district, CBSE and All India Sainik School platforms.
- 45 cadets participated in the All India Sainik School National Games Group H competition
- 8 athletics medals were won, with one cadet qualifying for national-level competition
- 40 cadets represented the school at the Mysuru District Basketball Tournament, securing Silver and Bronze medals
- The institution secured a Bronze medal at the CBSE National-Level Handball Championship
Learning to lead oneself before leading others
NCC and military-style activities give cadets structured opportunities to practise discipline, teamwork, precision and composure under pressure.

All cadets in Grades VI–IX progressed to the next grade during 2025–26.
Understanding service through first-hand exposure
Visits and interactions help cadets understand the Armed Forces not as an abstract idea, but through real institutions, people and professional cultures.
During 2025–26, cadets visited the Air Force Station, Belagavi; Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre; INS Kadamba, Karwar; and the 16th Battalion of the Madras Regiment.
Interactions with serving personnel and veterans add lived experience to the values of preparation, courage, teamwork and service. These opportunities broaden career awareness while helping cadets understand the responsibilities that accompany leadership.
A disciplined mind must also remain curious
Being a Sainik School cadet does not confine education to physical or military-style training. Intellectual curiosity, scientific temper and communication remain central to holistic development.
Cadets benefit from VSOE's wider learning ecosystem, including the Science Exploratory Park with more than 70 hands-on installations, science competitions, debating and public-speaking opportunities.
In 2025–26, two cadets earned Top Five recognition at the CBSE Zonal Science Exhibition with a project on Technology for Disaster Management. Cadets also received recognition at the Mysore Sahodaya debating competition, while a communication and debating workshop with Cornell University and SVYM's Vivekananda Institute of Indian Studies strengthened critical thinking and expression.
