Viveka School of Excellence

Affordable, accessible and holistic CBSE education for rural children — nurturing curiosity, character, confidence and the capabilities to shape their future.

To provide affordable, quality education through joyful, experiential and child-centred learning that nurtures character, curiosity and academic excellence while building the human and social capital of rural communities.

About

A rural school built around possibility

Established in 2002 at Saragur, Viveka School of Excellence is SVYM's CBSE school serving students from rural communities across Saragur and H.D. Kote. What began as an effort to make quality education accessible and affordable has grown into a 10-acre learning campus with 796 students, including the VSOE Sainik School vertical.

Read more about VSOE

VSOE was founded on the belief that where a child lives should not determine the quality of education available to them. Over more than two decades, the school has sought to demonstrate that a rural institution can combine affordability, strong academics, experiential learning, scientific temper, character formation and community participation.

VSOE Goal & Objective

To create a joyful, rigorous and contextually relevant learning environment that enables rural children to discover their abilities, build character and confidence, pursue higher aspirations and contribute meaningfully to society.

From access to aspiration — VSOE since 2002

When VSOE began in Saragur in 2002, access to affordable CBSE education in the region was limited. The school was designed to bring quality education closer to rural families without disconnecting learning from the realities and aspirations of the community.

Over time, the institution has grown beyond the conventional classroom. Science exploration, sports, cultural activities, leadership opportunities, teacher development and exposure beyond the school campus have become part of an education that seeks to prepare students not only for examinations, but for life.

Education aligned with SVYM's development vision

SVYM sees education as an investment in people and their capabilities. VSOE therefore combines academic learning with character, curiosity, confidence, discipline, relationships and opportunity — building the human and social capital that allows young people and communities to shape their own futures.

Building human capital

Academic learning, scientific temper, communication, sports and co-curricular experiences help students build knowledge, confidence and capability.

Building social capital

Parent engagement, student leadership, teachers, alumni and community participation create relationships that support learning and aspiration.

Affordable quality

The school was created to demonstrate that rural geography need not be a barrier to good-quality CBSE education.

Learning by doing

Experiential and activity-based learning encourages children to ask questions, test ideas and connect knowledge with the world around them.

What makes VSOE distinctive

  • A rural CBSE school established in 2002 with a long record of academic continuity and Grade X results.
  • Students come from more than 40 villages across Saragur and H.D. Kote taluks.
  • A 10-acre campus provides space for academics, sports, science exploration and co-curricular learning.
  • The Science Exploratory Park enables hands-on engagement with scientific concepts and also serves neighbouring schools.
  • Continuous teacher capacity building is treated as central to improving the quality of classroom learning.
  • Sports, arts, communication, leadership and exposure are integrated with academic development.

Science Exploratory Park

Where questions become experiments

VSOE's open-air Science Exploratory Park turns scientific principles into objects that children can touch, move, observe and question.

With more than 70 hands-on installations, the park creates an environment for learning by doing rather than only reading about concepts in a textbook.

The park also extends VSOE's role beyond its enrolled students. Around 3,000 students, teachers and community members from neighbouring schools and communities visit the facility annually, making it a shared rural learning resource.

Beyond the Classroom

Achievement is broader than marks

Students are encouraged to participate in sports, science, debating and co-curricular platforms at district, state, zonal and national levels.

In 2025–26, the school recorded achievements ranging from a Bronze medal at the CBSE National-Level Handball Championship to recognition in science exhibitions, NCC competitions, athletics and debating.

The purpose is not to make every child excel in the same arena, but to create enough opportunities for each student to discover where confidence, talent and interest can grow.

VSOE Sainik School

A distinct pathway within the larger VSOE institution

In 2022, a Sainik School vertical was established within VSOE under the aegis of the Sainik School Society, Ministry of Defence, Government of India.

The vertical brings together VSOE's established academic environment with residential education, discipline, physical development, leadership opportunities and exposure to defence institutions. In 2025–26, 227 students were part of the Sainik School vertical.

This VSOE page introduces the vertical as part of the parent institution. The dedicated VSOE Sainik School page carries the complete story of cadet life, academics, leadership, sports, NCC, defence exposure, facilities and achievements.

Why VSOE Matters

Making quality education part of rural aspiration

Access

A quality CBSE learning environment is available closer to families in rural Saragur and H.D. Kote.

Affordability

The institution was designed around the principle that quality education should remain within reach of rural families.

Aspiration

Strong academics and wider exposure help students imagine educational and professional pathways beyond what geography may once have limited.

Scientific Temper

Hands-on science resources encourage inquiry, curiosity and evidence-based thinking.

Character

Responsibility, discipline, service, teamwork and leadership form part of the learning environment.

Community Resource

The school's facilities and experience contribute to learning beyond its own enrolled student body.

The Larger Journey

Education that expands what a child believes is possible

VSOE's story is not only about bringing a CBSE school to a rural town. It is about creating an environment in which children can ask questions, discover talent, build confidence and see pathways beyond the boundaries that geography or circumstance may otherwise place around them.

That is how education contributes to building the human and social capital of a community — one learner, one family and one generation at a time.
